About the program

Course overview

Explore collaborative care in strabismus, highlighting how vision therapy and strabismus surgery can complement each other. This session will cover case examples, co-management strategies, and the benefits of interdisciplinary care for improved functional outcomes.

Learning objectives

  1. This course shares key findings from Advances in Optometry and Ophthalmology, Volume 10 on the Collaborative Management of Strabismus.
  2. It aims to bridge the gap between optometry and ophthalmology by highlighting how integrated care improves outcomes, especially in childhood-onset cases.
  3. Participants will learn how to assess functional visual skill disruptions, understand sensory adaptations, and determine when to apply vision therapy, surgery, or a combination of both.
  4. Emphasis is placed on aligning treatment plans with patient goals, enhancing interprofessional communication, and utilizing each profession’s strengths to develop comprehensive, patient-centered care strategies.
